PIMM involvement in Research Masters

PIMM staff is involved in teaching for four Research Master:

  • MAGIS (MAterial and EnGineering Science in ParIS)
    directed by V. Favier of PIMM (Pierre and Marie Curie University, ENS de Cachan, Mines ParisTech, Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole Centrale, ESPCI and Arts et Métiers ParisTech)
    3 of 4 electives are directed by PIMM members
    50 students/year - about 20 from Arts et Métiers ParisTech
    50% of lectures are given by PIMM members
  • SAR (Systems and Distributed Applications)
    (Pierre and Marie Curie University, Arts et Métiers ParisTech)
    45 students/year - about 15 students from Arts et Métiers ParisTech
    20% of lectures are given by PIMM members
  • IMS (Engineering of Materials and Surfaces)
    (Arts et Métiers ParisTech, ECAM-Lyon, HEI-Lille, ENSAIT-Lille)
    15 students/year - about 4 students from Arts et Métiers ParisTech
    10% of lectures are given by PIMM members
  • DSMSC (Dynamique, Structures, Matériaux, Systèmes couplés)
    (Ecole Centrale of Paris, Arts et Métiers ParisTech)
    20 students - 2 students from Arts et Métiers ParisTech
    6% of lectures are given by PIMM members

MAGIS and IMS masters have similar objectives. IMS aims to bring together the different laboratories of Arts et Métiers ParisTech while MAGIS aims to coordinate materials teaching in the Paris region.

Master internships

The PIMM annually hosts approximately 80 master internships whose 80 are research master internships. This very active participation of PIMM in practical research training is related to the structure of education at Arts et Métiers ParisTech.

PhD students

The number of PIMM PhD students PIMM is about 40, most of them are enrolled in the Graduate School 432 SMI, common to Arts et Métiers and Mines ParisTech.

     

PIMM PhD students are behind the creation of Arts et Métiers ParisTech PhD student Association of  Arts et Métiers ParisTech (ADDAM) and are very active (President and Treasurer).
